Sunshine Da-ay!

I've gotta' say, today was my best Mother's Day EVER!

My husband? He wakes up every day, looking for ways to give to his family.

Last night I was left alone to take a very long, steamy (ie: sweaty!) bath. It was pure bliss. I came out to find that the two year old was in bed and the playroom was spotless. The kitchen and living room were clean. There was my Miguel (my Spanish luh-vah!), waiting to rub my feet. He gave me the most kick-butt foot massage until I fell asleep.

I wake up this morning to ... NOTHING! He had breakfast out for the little one. All of the kids were watching TV in their p.j.'s. He ran to his staff meeting at church and then came back home with donuts. Dressed the kids (he picked out and ironed their clothes last night!). He did EVERYTHING so that I could actually have time to get myself ready on a Sunday morning (normally he's at the church by 8:00 am, and I get all three - or four - kids out the door by myself).

At lunch, the kids gave me their sweet, homemade gifts. We don't budget for Mother's/Father's Day, so you have to be a little more creative. Michael wrote me the most amazing letter thingy (hard to explain - more like an expose entitled "Being Christine Moers"). It made me laugh, then made me cry ... literally ... I'm crying in the middle of Gloria's over lunch! The last paragraph read:

- giving up "personal gain," and yet still gaining personally because you actually love what you do when you're giving everything you are to those around you.

And THEN .. he hands me a CD - the new millennium equivalent to a mix tape. It was full of "happy songs," for those times when Mommy needs a time out!! I think my favorite on there was "Sunshine Day" (Brady Bunch).

Okay ... am I right, or am I right?!? Best husband EVER!!

Happy M's Day! I came across your blog via your link w/ Camp Ozark. I'm going to be a counselor this summer and can't wait (only 10 more days!). Have you kids gone? What connection do you have w/ C.O.?

Wow. I was feeling pretty good about my mother's Day until I read that. Tell your husband he's making other guys look bad. :)

I'm glad you had a wonderful day.

Oh I love 'Sunshine Day' (Brady Bunch.) I had that song in my head last week. I remember watching that episode a few years ago.
