There's a ruckus down at the First Baptist

It's a problem that has been plaguing our churches for decades. Just when you think someone is taking a step forward, the entire congregation falls into the same trap. They slink back into the dark shadows. We're together ... but separate.

Well, I decided to do something about it. I don't care if my husband gets fired (heck, I'll just go shopping on his severance). I don't care if people stare and whisper. It's time to take some action, boys (sorry, I've seen "Beauty & The Beast" twice this weekend)!

I took a stand against people sitting in the far back recesses of the auditorium on Sunday and Wednesday nights!

So, last night our congregation came in to read one of three signs:

I can hear the audible gasp around the globe. What happened? Did the earth shatter ... break wide open and engulf us all in a fiery ball? Did people stomp out the back door? Did they start shouting, "I KNEW we shouldn't have voted in the chic with the nose stud!"?

What? Are you kidding me? I go to First Blackwell ... a church full of normal laid-back people, with a fabulous sense of humor, and a wonderful sense of community (even if they forget it and fall into the same trap on Sunday nights). Everyone started laughing ... laughing all the way to the front. We sat together. We sang together. We learned together. My husband didn't feel completely alone and abandoned way up by the microphone. It was a lot of fun. Sunday night ... at church ... was fun!

A new day is dawning, my friend.
