Christine's Book Club

No, I don't have a book club of my own ... and no, this probably isn't a regular thing. Just another post. Ya' know - odd and to the point.

This month, I want to guilt you into reading "Irresistible Revolution" by Shane Claiborne. Whatever your beliefs ... whatever your lifestyle ... whatever your socio-economic status might be ... whatever your political affiliation ... read Shane's book ... and remember that you can learn from someone who is not just like you.

So, learn and be rattled.

Every page has brought me more questions, and more call to action and more growth and more understanding and then more questions and more knowledge and more insight and it just never stops.

Read it. Ya' know ... if ya' wanna.

This book absolutely changed my life. I gave it to my college-aged son and he was rocked. My teen daughter needs to do a report on an author for school. She's doing Shane Claiborne.

I don't agree with him, completely, but a year after my first reading, I am still bowled over by his words.

Quite a while after getting together with some friends and praying and discussing "common life", my husband and I read this book - and were convicted of a great many things. The result of all of this prayer and God-stuff? >> www.commonlife.ca << click on 'Kirkendall cluster' on the left and you'll see a description of what's going on in my life right now ... we close on the house on the 17th!

We loved the book so much that we bought it (we had been borrowing it) and lend it out to whoever will take it =)

I don't necessarily agree with everything he says, but he does have some incredible things to say!

You are so bad for me!!! One of my new year's goals is to NOT buy any new books this year... Now, I am going to have to see if our library carries this (which I am thinking no knowing our library) and then if it is NOT there I am going to have to go and save up my money and BREAK my resolution!!! LOL You have piqued my curiosity greatly...

Ohhh, a new book for my list. At the rate I'm going I'll need to live to 300 to read all the books I want to. LOL Still, it sounds awesome from everythign I've found about it online. :)

This book has had such a tremendous impact on me that I have offered my husband all of my January "mad money" if he'll read it while I'm out of town this week.

Funny thing is ... I'll be interested to see what he does with the money once he actually reads it ...

Isn't that an amazing book? I had the same reaction...no matter what you believe--about anything--you should read it. I'm glad you liked it!
