Ohhhh-oh-ohhhh! Let it rise!

Today was the day. I baked my first loaf of bread from scratch.

I also did what all good bread makers do -- I completely screwed it up the first time! I didn't let it rise long enough (I'm not patient ... hmmmm ... who would have guessed?). So, it's much like it's maker: dense.

It's still delicious. More like a giant, thick roll than a loaf of bread. However, fresh out of the oven with some butter, who cares?

The best part is that I know I can do it. It will be better the next time.

I always joke when I reconnect with old friends that I sound very Amish on paper (married to a minister, lots of kids, homeschooling, etc.). Now I'm baking bread. Geeez Louise.

I love homemade bread! I haven't made any since Evan was little. Mmmmm

I do that sometimes, I just love the wonderful fresh bread smell! And yes, next you'll be churning your own butter LOL
