Not that I'm obsessed or anything ...

I actually had the exterminator wait a day to come out, because he can only spray baseboards to which he has access. I had to ... ummm ... ya' know ... pull EVERYTHING away from every single wall in my house.

I can handle spiders. I can handle ants. I can handle silverfish. I realize that they are just a part of home ownership on occasion. It was the life-threatening, flesh-rotting variety hanging out in my child's bedroom that sent me a wee bit over the edge. I've actually remained fairly calm (to avoid bringing the kids into my craziness). Knowing that everything has been sprayed, we will all be sleeping better tonight ... unless, of course, the toxic chemicals make us sprout scales.

I was going to actually post a pic of a brown recluse, but if you're like me you are already scratching and itching everywhere just hearing about it again.

In other news: the behind-furniture baseboards all received their first vacuuming since we moved here.

Oh yes, these are all over my house this year! Every year we see them but this year it's two at a time. We have even had a contract with Orkin ever since we moved into this old house of ours. I don't get it. They say the recluse walks through the poison unharmed because of a protective coating on his feet. Even the pros use glue traps along the baseboard for those suckers and they DO work. It's nasty to see them piling up in them but they like to eat each other so it helps to let them accumulate. Ok, I even grossed myself out with that one. I guess this year we'll just have to pray that they stay true to their name as much as possible and not become the "Brown extrovert" or something. :}
