Road Trip 2007 - Day Two

This post has been preempted

My, oh MY what a day we've had.

Last night we made it to Grand Island, Nebraska about 1:00 am. We threw down our sleeping bags in the camping cabin and jumped in, trying to fall asleep as fast as we could. Michael has caught "the cold" that Presh has been spewing. Andy Cahooney had a bit of drips, as well. So, we're all crammed in this tiny cabin, and it's sniff-ditty-sniff-sniff-COUGH!

Finally, we were all asleep. My cell phone alarm woke me at 4:45 am.

Roll up sleeping bags. Pee. On the road by 5:00 am.

Just after lunch, we made it to the Mount Rushmore area. We could see the face of the giant Crazy Horse sculpture that has begun. I couldn't get a decent pic, but it is going to be GREAT! When we got to Mt. R. I threw on my Mt. Rushmore t-shirt, which actually belonged to my husband when he was a kid (picked up on one of his family trips). So, I have it on in all of our pictures. Very cool.

On our way to leave, we noticed two other cars from Oklahoma in the parking lot. One couple was getting in.

"We're from Oklahoma, too. Where do you live?"

Yup. We had to drive to South Dakota to meet a couple that lives just blocks from us. Classic.

We are now camping in the shadow of Devil's Tower. In a bit we're going to roast some marshmallows over the camping stove (starting fires and setting the national forests on fire -- BAD!). I think I have sung the little alien ditty from Close Encounters about 4,000 times.

Ah! Just did it again!

Anywho, we're on our way to the campground's showing of said movie. A full night's sleep tonight! YEA!!!

"Emancipation, baby!"

Hey Christine,
Thanks for stopping by my blog. Yours looks like a fun place to be, I hope you don't mind if I drop by from time to time.

Now by psuedo-crunchy, do you mean in a earth-muffin sort of way? If so, I have been accused of bordering on earth-muffin too AND I also have a daughter with tics. Okay,I'm not sure I should be so excited about those things, but I am quite fine with them both.

Thanks again for stopping by and saying hello.
