It's either nothing, or it could kill me

We have a little visitor in our basement. What do you think? A brown snake?

Oh, and don't freak out. That pic is a MAJOR close-up! It's a wee little thing. Note how giant that dead moth looks next to it.

I was quite relieved, seeing as how my daughter notified me of its presence by saying, "I went down to get the chalkboard and there was a BIG snake in the basement!!" I was not thinking palm-of-my-hand big, but rather could-wrap-around-my-abdomen big. That was so not cool of her.

Um....yeah. I don't care how small the stinking thing is, I'd have freaked. Oh, and I'd have tortured myself for the next hour or so wondering where the giant six foot mama of this one lives! Shudder!

I once killed a snake that big by screaming in terror.

We used to keep pet snakes, that's one thing. I went down to gather laundry and underneath the pile was a nest of babies. My hand scooped them up all tangled around my fingers. They were the size of worms, yes, but still. I screamed. They all died.

I used to try to catch red racers when I was a kid. Snakes are cool...from afar.

One time a miniature snake-like animal dropped from an air conditioning vent into my hair. I freaked out! It was so small, almost worm-sized, but in my heart I know it was a dangerous, Amy-eating snake!

I just go with the assumption all snakes are poisonous! They're so icky!! I'm not just a little afraid of them - I go insane at the sight of them! We had a 3 foot long bullsnake in our basement once and I went balistic!

I hope this doesn't mean you have a nest somewhere nearby.
