It's about time, but I finally saw "The Business of Being Born." Holy hooch, that was a fabulous documentary. It was fabulous because it was a very interesting balance of information (and occurrences - you just have to see it to understand).

"The United States has the second worst newborn death rate in the developed world."

Read that again.

Then read it again.

And again.

Seriously. I'm going to be watching this movie with my daughters. Every woman needs to really understand that facts that are kept from us.

Also, a few weeks back I finally watched Bowling for Columbine, which I highly recommend. I was very pleased to see a large portion of the film focus on racial issues in our country.

Here's a little tid bit from the movie - this is just classic.

Of course, it is in beautiful contrast to the scene in my yard yesterday ... my kids and I were tilling up dirt for our garden ... then my youngest child (who is African American) decided we were her workers in the field and kept yelling at us to work harder ... and made us call her "boss."

Now THAT is classic.

you should watch SICKO. I put the trailer of B.O.B.B. on my blog. If you really want some birthing statistics check out the book Pushed. I am reading it now.

I'm so jealous. Everyone has seen it but me.

we found out about the stats, and my wife began having ours at home. by the way, try asking a obgyn about the facts and see what kind of response you get, it's really pathetic

I love me a good documentary! I'll have to look into it!

(And I too was really glad they focused on the racial issues in our country in Bowling for Colubine - it's so imperative that we all start looking critically at them!)

I haven't seen Business of Being Born yet, but I really want to. I had both my babies as naturally as possible in the hospital because my insurance decided it didn't want to cover the birthing center. It's nice to know there are other believers out there!
