A great addition to cuddle time

Part of parenting a child who has experienced trauma is spending deliberate time cuddling and making eye contact if they are comfortable with it. Many moms sing songs to their kids during that time. One of my favorites is "I Honestly Love You" by Olivia Newton John.

Love that song.

Some others that I enjoy - but are not traditional choices or suggestions for bonding moments - are "Lovely Day" (Bill Withers), "I Can't Help Falling in Love With You" (The King), "Everybody Hurts" (R.E.M.), "I Got You Babe" (Sonny & Cher).

But I have a new fave. I'm listening to this over and over and over so I can add it to the repertoire.

It's been so long since
You felt like you were loved
So what went wrong
But do you know
There's a place where you belong
Here in My Arms

Chorus:
When you feel like you're alone in your sadness
It seems like no one else in this whole world cares
And you want to get away from the madness
You just call My name and I'll be there
You just call My name and I'll be there

The pain inside
Has erased your hope for love
Soon you will find
That I'll give you all
That your heart could ever want
And so much more

You just call My name, say it now
I want you to never doubt
The love I have for you is so alive
Call My name say it now
I want you to never doubt
The love I have for you is so alive

Hey Christine, I've been away from the computer. Will email privately about the other things we've been talking about...

Regarding songs... LOVE the Blower's Daughter. It's in constant rotation in my car. But my favorite to sing to my kids (or just to listen to when I'm down) is Josh Groban's You Are Loved.

We were radio surfing one day and it was one and Eli fell in love with it. Trust Eli to like Josh Groban!

Take care,
Leslie

Okay! This is totally not related to your post, but I saw your video comments at Erin's blog and it's so great to put a face to your name! I read your blog every day via BlogHerAds (I do some of the rotations) and I love your blog. :)

So. This is me. De-lurking. Haha.
