I have a new favorite song.
"A Savior On Capitol Hill."
How are you going to feel if the person you are voting for is not elected? Can you take a deep breath and realize that your power and influence and love and service and giving has not been taken from you?
Can you find a way to smile and move on? Can you find a way to still unite and cooperate? Can you do unto the "other side" as you would hope they would do unto you?
Easier said than done, I know. We're a passionate people, we Americans. I would guess that the majority of us already don't have a favorite left on the ballot. So, maybe we should start working on it now.
maybe?

There have been years when this has been a REAL big prolem for me. Not this time. I don't like either one!!!!
"The unchallenged assumption is that society's problems can be solved by getting the right ersion of the kingdom of the world - - the right aristocrats - - in power at the top of the society, and that if only the right people acquire the power to lead society in the right direction, then all will be well....Yet as plausible as this way of thinking may be from within the world's 'power over' paradigm, it is utterly absurb when we view it from within God's 'power under' paradigm" ~~Greg Boyd The Myth of a Christian Nation
Poignant. It's tough. I'm praying that's not the position I'll be in, but I've certainly been there before.
BTW, I have an award for you on my blog. I love your writing and thought you deserved a little somethin'. Come check it out. The post is called "I'd Like to Thank the Academy."
Hey Christine!! I just wanted to confess my obsession with your blog! I love to check in on you and your sweet family - tell Michael hi for me!! :)
Hi! Just jumped over here from Heathers blog as your title caught my eye!
Thankfully, I only have one Savior and I'm not expecting ANY man in the oval office can turn this country around so it would be impossible for me to be disappointed come election day! lol
And I'm with the first commenter - I don't like either of 'em!
This is mostly off-topic, but I think you should Google "illinois infanticide law" (minus the quotes) to see at least two sides of one issue. I know your support of Obama is more meta than just pro-abortion vs. pro-life and I'm not at all saying that he's "pro-infanticide" as some is this debate might say. But while I don't watch/listen to a whole lot of news, I hadn't heard anything about this until today, so I wanted to pass the info along.
I like what my younger brother, Scott (a pastor and a real politics buff -http://higherplace.wordpress.com), said to me recently in response to my saying it would be interesting to see what happens in this country after the presidential election this fall...It really gave me a new perspective.
He said, "This country survived all the years of Clinton, we have survived the years of Bush, we'll survive whatever president the next election brings too."
Hmm. Interesting. Our country isn't going to self-destruct based on who our president is. God is still God regardless.
That being said...It is important to vote. I will choose a candidate and I will vote and I will not crawl into a hole if my choice isn't elected.
Yes, but I still like that Woody Guthrie song, "Jesus Christ for President."
