Wednesdays slurp

Tuesday night I could not go to sleep.

So, when that's how you start the day ...

My attaching kids both had a bad day. Granted, they thought they were going to hear from someone special, and it didn't pan out. I expected that to trigger some yuckiness.

Finally came to the very sad conclusion that the therapist we're using (who is so very close to us geographically) really doesn't have a stinkin' clue about how to approach early childhood trauma. Wonderful therapist ... ya' know, if you have learned to trust an adult at some point in your life. So, we're back to square one. Gotta' find someone new. Will be trekking across the state for therapy. Yippee-tie-eye-ay!

One of the kids moved their laundry over to the dryer and started it ... with the CAT INSIDE! My great-grandmother killed her cat this way, and I've always feared this happening. I still don't think my heart has stopped pounding. The cat is doing fine, once he got his equilibrium back.

My Tourettes gal had a rough night. One tiny illustration during the kids' Bible study triggered her, and it was downhill from there. Her latest motor tic is blinking. Her eyes were going 90-to-nothin'. She was super weepy. It was a tissue fest.

And YET ...

It was 60 degrees all day yesterday!

I'm sorry, maybe you didn't hear me. IT WAS 60 DEGREES! The heavens were filled with the angels singing, "Glory to God in the coolness!"

Was in my p.j.'s by 9 pm last night, with a movie crankin' on my laptop.

And this weekend I get to go on a shopping spree for Blogher (more about that at a later date!), followed by a few days with an amazing friend who is also parenting through attachment issues. Get to see my parents, too.

Without any of my children.

Mmmmm ... I love the bright side.

That is a VERY bright side! It is cooler here too. I have on jeans and a 3/4 length sleeved light sweater today. Amazing!! I love fall.

oooooh a child free visit!! What a blessing. The blinking tic must really really bother...oh my, poor dear.

Oh, to be cooler - but, no not yet in central FL. The fall stuff is for sale at the shops - Walmart smells like cinnamon brooms - the Halloween candy is out, but we're still hitting 90. Only a couple more months. (sigh)

I'm still trying to find my equilibrium after reading about the cat in your dryer. How horrible for you and your grandma. No wonder it was so traumatic for you this time.

Having said that, I have a confession to make: I can't help but picture your story as if it were a Looney Tunes cartoon. The scene opens with the dryer shuddering and the cat yowling inside. Suddenly, the poor thing makes his escape, bursting out of the machine with his fur poufed up to twice its regular volume. As he staggers about, stars and birds circle his spinning head, and he barely moans out the words, "sufferin' succotash" before face-planting with a resounding *thwack*!

My apologies to you and your dear kitty, but I'm going to be laughing about this all night.

Please kiss your kitty for me as I am a cat lady with no cats. How horrifying, I can't afford to think of it.

There was a cat tragedy in the church parking lot at my wedding twelve years ago. No one spoke a word of it at the time to spare me. I found out much much later what had happened.

I'm sorry about your radish and Riki Tiki Tavi troubles as well. Tough times for kids and cats. Hope you have a fun trip on the road!
