Dear Blog, I'd like you to meet my kids

I've been painfully vague, I know. Yet, I feel like I can finally come out of the closet and tell you the scoop.

Today our two newest kids have been with us for six months. We have already started the process to adopt them. As things go, respite can turn into extended respite which can then turn into new birth certificates, official US citizenship, and the State of Oklahoma viewing them as "officially" our children. We are hoping the paperwork and red tape moves along smoothly. We've already had some kinks. As you can imagine, these kinks have sent our now-attaching kids into MAJOR overdrive and freak-out mode (and they're both having nightmares that something may go wrong in the process). Finalizing their adoption will allow them to move forward in healing again. Right now they desperately need to regress out the hoo-ha.

They've floundered for so long without a "forever." The "forever" they thought they had continued to dissolve. We are their forever. Some days they like that. Some days they are terrified by it. Every day we love them no matter what, and are so honored to have the privilege of being their Mom & Dad.

Happy Anniversary, Sugar Lumps!
I love you forever.

Congrats! It is an amazing thing to heal at all in foster care. How can you feel safe and then process what you've been through, heal your heart-or patch it, and begin to move forward without permanency?

Praying things go smoothly.
Hugs!

Ahhh Christine, I just knew you were going to be their forever family. I love you for all you do and stand for, but most of all the person/mom you have grown up to be! I can say this because... we were nutty college kids together trying to figure out who we would be one day.

I will be praying for everything to go thru quickly and without too many hassles.

You shame me. Sometimes so much that I actually have trouble reading your blog. God bless you and God bless those kids of yours.

Well I read this the other day and it made me teary with joy as well. I'm so glad you've chosen to do the "difficult" thing. And I know you are experiencing the rewards of your faithfulness all along the way. What treasures you are finding tucked away in these hurt children! Blessings to you family of 7!! xoxoxox :)
