I had big plans for bat houses. I was going to coax some bats into our area. It was a goal, and it was going to happen!
Bats are good. Bats are GREAT! Bats like mosquitoes on their plate.
Then a few nights ago Rocky came running toward me yelling, "Mom, isn't that a bat flying over the trees?" Could it be? Could it really be that easy?
Yes sir. We're no Congress Avenue Bridge, but every night around 8:15 pm you will start to see a few above our trees. They jut around just eating away.
WE HAVE BATS!
So, you can come on out to Hill Shade just after 8:00 pm, and either watch a handful of bats, or a family of seven jumping around, clapping and cheering them on. Either are somewhat entertaining.

I love bats. They are one of my favorite creatures. The other day there were 4 little bitty ones hanging out (quite literally) in the shade of the corner of our building. SO CUTE! I got within inches of one and was chatting away to it, saying things like "You are so cute and fuzzy that I really want to pet you, but if I pet you, you will probably bite me, and then I would probably get rabies, and that would be bad."

Thats just batty.
We have a bat box and some bats too :D Love them. They keep the mosquitos at bay which have been REALLY bad this year.
So you stole my bats! LOL We are over-run with mosquitoes right now. I wish a family of bats would take up residence here.
