So, what to do with that wonderful chia gel you now have sitting in your fridge? Make yourself a chia fresca.
I have adapted mine to fit what I like. You can google yourself a million different recipes. But this is my favorite (and VERY simple) version:
Take a pretty glass - or a sweet little mason jar - as long as it makes you feel either pretty or funky. This is a first-time-maker requirement for MY adaptation. It makes it taste better. Really.
Put in a few teaspoons of lemon juice. If it's a tea glass, I would guess-timate about 4 teaspoons (better to start with less and add to taste, unless you have a high pucker tolerance).
Pour in some chia gel until it fills about 1/3 of your glass.
Throw in a few pieces of ice and a packet of Stevia.
Fill the rest of the glass with water. Stir. Then call me crying because it is SO GOOD!
Basically, it's a chia lemonade. There are plenty of versions where you put straight chia seeds in. I prefer to do the already-gelled version. I like the texture better, I guess.
You can also play around with this recipe. Use lime instead of lemon. I have done it with orange juice. Really, the sky is the limit. Choose your favorite citrus and make yourself a refreshing chia-ade.
Or should that be cheee-ade?

Neat. I just finished a bowl of oatmeal with chia sprinkles a moment ago but I still haven't made the gel. I actually do make that lemon/stevia water for myself already so I shall try it gelato style! ;D
I've been feeling super fine since eating chia upon your introduction. Very nas Very nas!
How do you keep the chia seeds from sticking to the bottom? Or does it not matter. Seriously, I'm about ready to eat whatever you say as long as it helps this pre-pre-menopausal hell I seem to have entered since turning 36.
This is goooooood!!!
I've been putting chia seeds in our bars and chia gel in our homemade grape juice for a few months but I love the idea of combining it with fresh lemon juice cause it tastes great and for better digestion!
Yum- I'm giving this a try.
Kerrie, if you are talking about when making the gel, put it in a container with a lid so you can shake it up!
In the glass, though, that is one reason I put the gel in, and not dry seeds. Doesn't stick to everything. AND, a straw sucks it all right up off the bottom.
I am confused - what you're drinking looks clear (ish) but in your last chia post the gel looked BLACK. Am I missing something??
Your repeated mentioning is causing me to want to try..hmmmm.....
Just the lighting.
Not black.
:)
Can I add it to my diet coke?? Cause, you know, I am NOT quitting the diet coke!
I am going to try this tomorrow! oh and I love the pic with this post!! I'm trying to convince my children that dreads rock;)
Bought the chia seed today and joined the revolution. Am looking for ideas on how to use and how MUCH to use and hoping that sneaking some into babys diet will be ok!
Christine, where do you FIND chia? I'm assuming it has health benefits and so I'm going to do some investigating as to where to find it. Thanks for sharing your "find" lol. Lori
can I had a shot of vodka to make it like a Mike's Hard Lemonade?
lol
I just ate the last of my chia today in a smoothie. The smoothie turned out to be really gross and frothy, but I just drank it all up so as not to waste the pile of kale I put in that sucker!
I'm going to try this drink, you. I think I am feeling better since going for the green smoothie every day.
