10 Month Dreadiversary

I tightened up my roots all around the top yesterday. This always cracks me up (can you tell?). They stand up and salute for several days - defying gravity. This is also when my husband starts making Side Show Bob jokes.

The oldest hair style in the history of ever.

My dreadies are 10 months old.

Seems as though they've been with me longer.

I love them. Adore every little nook and cranny. Love watching each hair slowly makes its crazy way up from the ends into each dread. It still amazes me that I can just let it happen, and my hair ... my HAIR will do it completely on its own.

So simple, yet so complex. So unconventional yet so absolutely beautiful.

I think they are so cool - and totally fit you. I can't imagine you without them.

Also, I want to get my nose pierced (well, I've wanted to do it since I was 19), support? Margaritas and piercings?

The nose thing wasn't all that much worse than my ears. It just was a little more daunting. Tats are a MUCH bigger deal than the hole in the nose ... I think.

So cute!! I am in love with my nose ring and tattoos and feel like they really are an outward expression of my personality. I've been thinking about dreads for a year or so...I'm going to grow the hair out and enjoy some braided pigtails for a while before I decide. I love your style!

Happy Dreadiversary!

And thanks for the link to the wiki article - that was a way cool read!

I love learning new stuff and so far today I've learned all about dreads and that i can completely lose my mind when i'm all hormonal and sore and trying to pay for a WoW subscription and get handed the phone and Eli starts freakin out cause he thinks i'm messing up his subscription - i'm telling you, Christine, i freakin' lost my mind for a few minutes - it sucked BIG.Time!

So your hair looks great, very fun, but your thighs in this picture, is it the camera tilt??? They look the size of my arms, seriously! Maybe I may consider vegan lifestyle... You look and look like you feel great!

I think it's a wonderful combination of VERY fitted jeans and taking the pic from above. I mean, I keep my weight down, but when I sit down, everything spreads out just like every other thigh on the planet.

She's lying. Last year when we were in Orlando, I thought, Oh my, she's a tiny little thing. Then I realized we were the same height, and she just eats right. I am not vegan (yet?) but I made the move to vegetarian.. and cut (a lot) of crap. Cuz Christine looks GOOD!

Hey christine- how did you tighten up the roots? Just by backcombing? Or did you use some other method?

thanks! Kristin

To tighten my roots, I use a size 10/1.30 MM (tiny!) crochet hook. I do not jab and "felt" at my hair like some people do, which can tear it. I just use that tiny hook to quickly and gently pull some of the hairs from the already dreaded part down, and start combining it with the new growth. I also can use it to pull some frizzies in to the root area.
