September Hoop Challenge

I have had several people say they wish they had done the July Hoop Challenge. And while you can do your own challenge, anytime you want, I understand the importance of doing something like this with another person. Well, have I got news for you!

Yesterday, at Hoop Church, Michelle mentioned she is going to put out another challenge for the month of September. Because there is a handful of you that want to try this, I'm gonna' jump back in and lead the way!

So, if you have been thinking about it but simply needed some motivation, get your hoop made, start warming up those hips, and mark your calendar for September. Thirty minutes of hooping for 30 days!

I guarantee you, at the end of it, you will be more confident, more limber, and WAY less sucky at hula hooping. If you do not find all those things to be true, I will give you back every dime you have paid me. heh. heh.

I am so happy you are doing this again, my little ones are very excited about the prospect of joining you, and my thirteen year old thinks it is the dumbest thing she has ever heard of…it’s gonna be great!

I'll be doing it again! And hopefully by then we will have a bit cooler weather!

I would love to join you, have the hoop and everything... But even after watching the video you posted I can't keep it up for more than about eight rotations. I am so unfit, I just can't keep my hips moving fast enough. I'll try hooping in September but I can't promise 30mins a day!

Liz, I couldn't keep my hoop up either at first - 3 things helped, well ok, 4 things.
1. keep trying.
2. is your hoop big enough, maybe make another one - just a wee bit larger.
3. move a just little bit faster
4. I just kept seein that photo of Christine with the wine glass in her hand ....

and for fun - did ya watch the hoopsmiles video Christine posted?

Alright, I'm going to make a hoop and do it. I've never been a great hooper (I think I was 10 the last time I tried), but I'm going to give it my best shot.

Here goes nothing!

Well, I never comment but I read you all the time so I might as well jump in here.

I'm in for the challenge. I started last month inspired by the last hooping posts and its been the best thing that's happened to my stomach muscles EVAH!

Anyway, truly love what you write.

Count me in!!

Liz... the best description I've heard is to pretend you're inside a barrel. On the 4 points of your waist (front, back, sides) you have paint brushes hooked to you. You need to paint the inside of that barrel with the brushes! It'll get your hips in with the flow!! At least it worked for me ;-)

Thanks everyone for your tips. I'll keep trying although I haven't been hooping in a while. Have posted myself a September challenge which relates to this... http://welearn4fun.wordpress.com/2011/08/30/september-fitness-challenge/ I'm hoping to get some hooping in there (although I'm not up to taking the hoop travelling) - maybe even five minutes a day? That's five more minutes a day than I am doing now!
