Every time I take on one of these 30-minutes-a-day things I am amazed at all it does for me. It's a pain some days. Sure. But holy sauna, can it be a really great workout.
Anyone can hoop, outside of living in an iron lung. Even then, I'd be willing to visit someone in an iron lung and hoop as they direct me!
Spinning that circle around my body forces me to constantly make a choice. I can stay pretty static or I can open up. I can be still and stiff or I can move. It's a very vulnerable space to be in, because when you're playing around you make goofy faces (I tend to hoop with my mouth slightly open - VERY attractive) and you have moments of konking yourself in the face or tripping all over everything.
Yet, when you finally start to give yourself permission to just try - just move - just play - you find your inner goddess. You find the ability to move in ways you avoided. You feel sexy. You grow as a human. You find strength and bravery. I had no idea I was capable of some of this stuff.
It's never too late to try something new. Ever. Make your own hoop. Then ... just try it. Don't let excuses stop you, dang it.
