Suffering in Orlando

Today I am gettin' all John Denver and leaving on a jet plane.

Don't know when I'll be back again.

Okay, fine. I'll be back Tuesday, but let a girl dream.

I am attending the third Early Trauma and Attachment Annual Meeting. Most of us, however, just lovingly refer to it as "Orlando." Orlando no longer belongs to Disney. It is now defined as dozens of women who parent trauma on a daily basis, taking a much needed respite for their bodies, minds and souls.

My bag is packed with all clothing I love. That means there is an array of stripey socks (which are only for show, when I'm not in the pool). I'm teaching one class while I'm there and spending the rest of the time lounging and laughing and eating and then lounging and laughing and eating.

If you're not able to make it out to Orlando, stay tuned this weekend for another plug for the Parenting in SPACE conference in April. I'm doing my best to land somewhere near ALL of you! Give me time!

"God doesn’t cause suffering, but God shows up in it. God is not afraid of suffering and knows we’ll find God there. God calls us into suffering in order to help transform it by doing what we’ve confessed God has been doing all along: creating order out of chaos, pulling creation out of destruction, calling forth life out from death." - from Lutheran World Relief's blog

Love this quote. Hope it's true.
