Eighteen years ago I was 23.
Michael was 27.
We stood in front of my father as he officiated our commitment to each other. Some of our closest friends and family stood with us in support.
Like most young people in this situation we had absolutely no idea what the hell we were getting ourselves into.
Here we are, all this time later, and I can say in complete honesty: I have never regretted the massive commitment I made on September 16, 1995. Even on the days that we have both wanted to throw in the towel and stomp on it ... no regrets.
In the last eighteen years, my life has been gifted a partner who has dared to love me, grow with me, play with me, parent with me, change and allow me to change. These kinds of posts almost seem a joke at this point because there is no way you can put into words what it is like to share life for, now, almost decadeS.
I'll beat our dead horse one more time: I wouldn't have wanted to do it with anyone else. I can't think of anyone else on this planet who would have fit with me more perfectly and shared the same life goals over all this time. It's a very unique thing that we have, and it is innumerable unique things we have done ... survived ... created.
Michael, thank you for the last 18 years. I love you and I am so very thankful for you.
