I've been using it for a week and I shower about every other day. I am still using store bought conditioner but plan on switching to an apple cider vinegar rinse after my conditioner is gone. A few notes: if you are making your own shampoo so that you use less plastic/bottles, I don't know if this is the best option since there are several ingredients that come in . . . bottles - however, if you are looking for something with out SLS, alcohol, etc. then this might be the poo for you. Also, the original recipe used 1/2 c. sweet almond oil but that was too much oil for my hair. I would possibly use the recipe with more oil as a body wash as it feels great on my skin and I use less lotion post shower - it also would probably be a great poo for my African kiddos someday when our adoption is complete. I have naturally curly hair - someone with stick straight hair or really thin/fine hair might want to try substituting glycerin for all of the almond oil. All that said, here is the recipe:<BR/><BR/>1/4 c. Honey<BR/>1/4 c. sweet almond oil<BR/>1/4 c. Food grade glycerin<BR/>1 c. Dr Bronner's unscented liquid castille soap<BR/>1 1/2 t. Almond Extract<BR/><BR/>Mix until blended. This is very concentrated so a little goes a long way. <BR/><BR/>Things to try: add tea tree oil if you have an itchy or flaky scalp. It works great and there's no bottle. I also had to stop using conditioner. I was having problems with losing a lot of hair. At first I thought it was hormonal because of the last pregnancy/nursing. I tried switching to different brands and varieties, but it didn't matter. Still lots of hair falling out. So I stopped using conditioner just to see what would happen. My hair loss stopped almost immediately and after about a week of adjusting to the change my hair is actually more manageable with more body and texture. And that's another plastic bottle that I don't have to buy and throw away.<BR/><BR/>But as for making it - I had a couple of recipes that I've been meaning to try. But darn it, I can't seem to remember what I did with them.
